The Saab 9-3 is currently Saab's entry-level line, replacing the Saab 900 in 1998. When it was released in 1998, it was simply a re-badged 900 Series 2 and was only re-designed during the 2003 model year. One of the major changes in 2003 was the removal of the 5-door hatchback version and the inclusion of the 4-door sedan and station wagon versions.
