The Mercedes-Benz W114, the 6-cylinder line, and the similar
W115, the 4/5-cylinder line, were the newly designed entry-level sedans that replaced the
W111 and
W110 in 1968. Both lines were eventually replaced in 1976 by the E-Class' predecessor, the
W123 Sedan.
The W114 represented the higher end of the new line of entry-level sedans. The first 2 models were the 230 and 250. In 1969, a
coupe version was added. In 1972, the line was upgraded and the 280 and the 280E were added. All models were discontinued in 1976.
