The Mercedes-Benz W112 was the top line in a set of "Fintail"-bodied series of cars (along with the W110
and the
W111) built in the 1960s. Introduced in 1961, it had 3 versions: the
300 SE Sedan, 300 SE Coupé and 300 SE Cabriolet. The line was supposed to replace the
Type 300 but instead the
600 "Grand Mercedes" became Mercedes-Benz's flagship line.
The W112 Coupes/Cabriolets were discontinued in 1967 and the whole line merged with the
W111 Coupes/Cabriolets and then replaced in 1971 by a new luxury 2-door line, the
W107.
