The Mercedes-Benz W109 was a line of luxury sedans that was released as the more powerful and thus more expensive version of the
W108. Introduced in 1965, it only had 1 model, the 300SEL which replaced the
W112 Sedans. In 1968, a V8 model was added, the 300SEL 6.3. More were added, the 300SEL 3.5 in 1970 and the 300SEL 4.5 in 1971. The 6-cylinder 300SEL was dropped in 1970 while the rest of the models, along with the
W108 models, were replaced in 1972 by Mercedes-Benz's newest flagship line, the
S-Class.
