The Berlinetta Boxer (BB), a line of mid-engined sports cars, replaced the front-engined
Daytona as Ferrari's 2-seat flagship car in 1973. The first BB was the 365 GT4 BB introduced in 1973. It was replaced in 1976 by the 512 BB and then by the fuel-injected 512 BBi, from 1981 to 1984. For 12 more years the mid-engined flat-12 held the 2-seater flagship line: the Testarossa ('84-'91), the 512 TR ('91-'94) and then the F512M ('94-'96). The 2-seater top spot was returned to a front engined V12 car with the 550 Series in 1996.
