The BMW 7 Series is a line of top-of-the-line luxury cars. Introduced in 1977, it is BMW's main flagship line. The series is currently in its 4th generation and is only available as a sedan.
The BMW E65 Series was the successor of the
BMW E38 and is considered the 4th generation of the 7 Series. Introduced in 2001, it came in 4 versions: short wheel base (E65), long wheel base (E66), bullet-proof (E67) and hydrogen-based (E68). The E65 first came in 2 models: the 735i and 745i. The diesel versions, the 730d and 740d, were added in 2002. In 2003, the 730i and 760i were added and in 2005, a face-lift occurred and all models were upgraded with the 740i, 750i and 745 replacing the 735i, 745i and 740d respectively. All models were replaced in 2008 by the next generation of the 7 Series, the BMW F01.
